Due to financial or other pressures on parents, many grandparents become caretakers for their children.  Grandparents may even take custody of the grandchildren if the parents are unfit to provide care for their children.  In other cases, grandparents may lose contact with their grandchildren due to divorce or relocation of the parent. Grandparents may seek a court order to adopt or maintain relationships with their grandchildren after a divorce or termination of parental rights.
